Christmas crafts are a great way to get the whole family into the holiday spirit. Not only do you have fun doing the craft, but you get to display it to all your Christmas visitors as well.
# Advent Calendar
Creating an advent calendar is a fun way to get the children excited. You can create an easy calendar by creating a large fabric banner and adding 24 pockets for the 24 days in December before Christmas. Each day, the children get to take a treat or small gift out of a pocket.
Instead of filling the pockets with treats, you can also expand this project by making small items to put into the pockets. For example, make a homemade ornament for each pocket. Then at the end, you will have 24 ornaments for your Christmas tree. Ornaments are easy to make out of dough, felt, wood, fabric scraps, or even construction paper.
# Tree Skirt
A tree skirt is an easy craft to make, and it looks terrific when done. Simply cut a piece of fabric into a circle, and make a slit from the outside of the circle to the middle. Sew up all the hems, and you are done. The children can help by cutting out stars or other Christmas decorations out of felt, which you can then affix to the skirt.
# Christmas Stockings
Stockings are another easy craft for both young and old. All you have to do is draw a simple pattern of a stocking on fabric, sew the two halves together, and decorate the stocking in any way you choose.
# Christmas Cards
Why not send out homemade cards this year? A simple card can be made from construction paper, with a design stamped on the front. Just cut simple shapes out of a potato, and you have a quick stamp that you can dip into paint and apply. Or have the children cut shapes out of wrapping paper or construction paper to create a design on the card.
The possibilities for simple Christmas crafts are endless, and will bring the whole family together.
